Standing up for freedom on Independence Day

This weekend, we celebrate our nation’s independence and our freedom. 
 
Independence Day is a time to renew our pledge to cherish and protect the freedom we have in this great nation. The signers of the Declaration of Independence risked their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to bring America into existence. It’s time that we recommit ourselves to standing up for freedom, just as they did.
 
Let us take this weekend to remember the sacrifice of our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines – and their families – to ensure that America remains free and strong, and to pray for our nation’s leaders in these most challenging times. 
 
Finally, Independence Day is about families, friends, and community. These are the things we love, and what is best about America.  It is my hope that everyone will enjoy an Independence Day celebration that serves as a reminder of the blessings of liberty and the spirit of patriotism.
