BLOG: Mary Ann Glendon a success...thanks volunteers!
Mike joins me in sending heartfelt thanks to all volunteers and supporters who served during Mary Ann Glendon's visit to Wichita. We held 7 events in a day and a half and we couldn't have done it without our incredible army of volunteers.
As unbelievable as it seems, each of the events came off without a hitch. Registration systems went smoothly, programs and invitations were printed and perfect, contributions were received and properly deposited, food was made and delivered to Ms. Glendon's hotel room, clergy were entertained, banners were hung, taken down, and hung again, books were signed, questions were asked, the campaign office was tidied up and CLEANED, buttons, palm cards and bumper stickers were hauled everywhere, voters were registered, new volunteers were secured, fabulous pictures were taken throughout the events, and MORE!
In addition to the event volunteers, we had another group of volunteers who worked for two months raising campaign contributions in conjunction with Ms. Glendon's visit. And, yet another group of volunteers that focused on event promotion and protocol. Not bad!
Most all of you have heard Mike brag about this campaign's volunteer base – well over 1,000 volunteers to date. While that alone is astounding, here's what I find especially exciting: we have the most talented, experienced, successful, capable and good at heart group of volunteers of all ages working side by side! I ask you...what could be a better or more telling reflection of a candidate than the faces of his/her volunteers and the results from their work?
I heard from Mary Ann just today and she is still in awe of the Kansas friendliness and warmth (she tells us that in Boston, people who don't personally know you, don't greet you, say hi and begin chatting!!) and wanted me to pass along her thanks to all of you for your hospitality.
You bless us tremendously. We could NOT do all this without you. (And it SURE wouldn't be as fun!) We promise you that we will continue to work as hard as we humanly are able to not only do the right things, but do them in a manner that honors your commitment. And, we look forward to celebrating together in August and again in November.
Thank you,
Susan Pompeo
