Peggy Palmer urges conservatives to support businessman
Former State Senator, long-time Republican activist, and conservative leader Peggy Palmer of Augusta today added her name to an impressive list of elected officials and business leaders who have endorsed Mike Pompeo in his campaign for U.S. Congress in Kansas’ Fourth Congressional District.
“We have an opportunity to elect a true patriot to Congress,” said Palmer. “Not only is Mike Pompeo a successful businessman, job creator and a conservative, but he has proven himself as someone who gets the job done. It’s not everyone who graduates first in their class from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. It’s not everyone who grows a business from scratch to 500 employees, and it’s not everyone who can stand-up to Nancy Pelosi and the Obama administration. Mike Pompeo has done the first two, and I have every faith that he will do the latter as well,” Palmer continued.
From Augusta, Palmer was elected to the Kansas State House of Representatives in 1996, and was elected to the State Senate in 2004. She retired from elective politics in 2008. Senator Palmer has spent years as a leading voice for family values and the limited, proper role of government.
I have never run for public office before,” Pompeo stated. “And it is exciting to see people such as Peggy, do what they think is right for our country. While her support means a great deal to me, it’s the support of all conservatives – of the small business owner, the Sunday school teacher, the farmer wanting the government to let him farm, and the mother who wants to make certain she can pick her child’s doctor — that matter the most to me,” Pompeo continued.
Palmer joins an impressive list of endorsers committed to the Pompeo campaign. In fact, Pompeo has been endorsed by at least three individuals who were considered likely candidates for the open congressional seat. These include State Senator Susan Wagle, Wichita City Councilor Sue Schlapp, and former White House official Matt Schlapp. For a more complete listing of those endorsing Mike Pompeo, visit his website www.PompeoForCongress.com.
The Fourth Congressional District covers Butler and 10 other counties in south central and southeastern Kansas. The incumbent congressman, Todd Tiahrt, has announced his intention to run for the U.S. Senate, creating an open-seat in this district.
“Our country is facing unprecedented challenges. Supporting people with integrity to represent us in Washington has never been so important. We are very fortunate to have an outstanding person, Mike Pompeo, running for Congress in the Fourth District. Mike understands our principles of limited government, free enterprise, individual freedoms and family values. It is my privilege to support Mike Pompeo,” Palmer concluded.
