WICHITA, KS – The Mike Pompeo campaign today responded to a new TV ad launched by Raj Goyle attacking Pompeo’s record on jobs.
“Raj Goyle is desperate. The latest independent polls show him losing the Congressional race by double digits and he is panicking. So he’s doing what professional politicians always do. He’s attacking the truth,” said Josh Wells, Pompeo for Congress Communications Director.
“In a move worthy of his favorite candidate, Barack Obama himself, Goyle’s ad actually cuts off Mike Pompeo mid-sentence in an attempt to mislead voters. It won’t work.”
Mike Pompeo’s full statement minus the Goyle campaign video edit, is documented on Raj Goyle’s campaign website:
“My role as I see it in Congress is not to bring jobs back to Kansas… fundamentally not my job. My job is to create the environment where y’all can go create the next great company and create jobs, or Sentry International can, or Cessna or Spirit or Learjet. The federal government is not a job creator. It is a job destroyer – every time.” (Q&A footage, May 4, 2010)
“Not to compare the two people or the offices sought, but this is as dishonest as somebody cutting off Kennedy’s inaugural at ‘ask not what your country can do for you,’ and then running a commercial saying Kennedy wanted to abolish government,” Wells continued. “It is a breathtakingly dishonest piece of editing designed to deceive voters.”
Only a candidate who acknowledges his campaign is headed to defeat would resort to such an obviously dishonest tactic.
Lastly, the commercial also recycles claims already disputed by Kansas media who have said the claims distort facts and stretch the truth.
