WICHITA, KS – Businessman and military veteran Mike Pompeo has won the Republican nomination for the 4th District Congressional District.
The results were announced this evening by the office of the Kansas Secretary of State. With 533 of 570 precincts counted, Mike Pompeo had received 39% of the vote, ahead of the 24% of Kansas Senator Jean Schodorf and the 23% of Wink Hartman.
“It’s a great day to be a member of Team Pompeo,” commented Mike Pompeo. “Our victory tonight is the result of 18 months of hard work by our amazing volunteers, supporters and staff members. We’ve run a campaign focused on our positive message – a message of smaller government, less spending, border security and a strong national defense. Thank you for your unwavering support over the past year and a half.”
“We’ve crossed the primary election finish line first – but our work is far from over,” continued Pompeo. “We must immediately refocus and work toward victory in November.
In November voters will have a clear choice. I am a fiscal conservative who has built businesses, creating 400 jobs, and I know the private sector is where we can create sustainable jobs. My opponent has historically been a tax and spend advocate, backed by the nation’s liberal elite, who sees government as the solution.
I oppose President Obama’s agenda and that of the current Democratic leadership. Mr. Goyle’s first vote in Congress would be to reelect Nancy Pelosi.
“From day one, I’ve said this campaign is about reducing the size and scope of the federal government. We must stop the spending, secure our borders and grow our economy by getting the federal government out of the way.”
“I welcome all of you – and all voters across the 4th District – to join with me and other conservative Republicans across the county in retaking our federal government. Now is the time to stand together and fight against the liberal policies of President Obama and his friends in Congress who are attacking our freedom,” concluded Pompeo.
