Pompeo calls on 4th District citizens to demand smaller goverment
WICHITA, KS – Businessman and military veteran Mike Pompeo was one of four Republican candidates for the Kansas 4th District Congressional seat who participated in the Republican Women United candidate forum this morning in west Wichita.
“These are serious times in our country that demand serious candidates who know the issues and have real life experience when it comes to dealing with the bureaucracies and burdens being pushed into our living rooms by the Obama and Pelosi agenda,” Pompeo commented after the forum. “The answer is a smaller, less intrusive government. The Democratic agenda of more tax and more regulation must stop.”
During the forum, Pompeo told a group of about 75 people that one way to rid our country of wasteful spending is to abolish legislative earmarks. “Companies want corporate income tax rates, capital gains tax rates, federal regulations and a health care system that will allow them to compete globally.” Pompeo continued later and said “We have the best workforce in the world…and if we simply rid ourselves of unnecessary federal regulation and change our tax code very significantly, jobs will come back.”
Pompeo’s core belief about earmarks leading to bad federal policy and unfair competition is one reason why he was endorsed by Club for Growth. The Club called Mike Pompeo a candidate who “is running for Congress to bring a real change to Washington…and he is committed to the principles of limited government, economic freedom and individual choice.”
“These forums are important and allow people to hear how a candidate responds to a question about issues that were predetermined,” continued Pompeo. “More importantly, voters in the 4th District should look at how each candidate runs their campaign. How they’re out in the district each day, answering questions from people who are passionate about conservative values and deeply concerned about the direction our country is headed. That’s when you’ll find truly the best candidate to represent the 4thDistrict of Kansas,” concluded Pompeo.
