Pompeo: Spending Must Stop

INDEPENDENCE, KS – Businessman, military veteran and 4th District Congressional candidate Mike Pompeo addressed concerns and questions from veterans and their families during a veterans rally in Montgomery County today.

“We owe our nation’s service members a great deal of gratitude and appreciation, but we are failing when it comes to keeping them safe,” commented Mike Pompeo. “We have a government spending more time worried about its image and less time working to make sure our military has the resources and equipment needed to get the job done. We’ve also got to take care of our heroes when they come home.”

“We are spending money at the federal level we just don’t have. We must reign in the out of control spending or bad things will happen. The leaders in Washington continue to dig a hole for the future of our country. It’s my goal to go to Congress and throw away the shovels before it’s too late.”

“My core belief has always been if you work hard, tell the truth and hold on to your faith, then good things will happen – but with the federal government growing at an exponential rate, I’m afraid that belief will no longer be true.”

“The America I grew up in with the promise of freedom and the desire to succeed is endangered by a wide-ranging government take-over. The federal government has lost its way. Our country is moving in the wrong direction at an alarming rate and if we don’t act now to bring it back, it will be too late.”

“I believe America’s best days are ahead – but we must act now. We need to return the decision making process to families, entrepreneurs and local governments who know what’s best for the 4th District of Kansas. The federal government has made too many promises and taken on too much responsibility.”

“We didn’t get to this point overnight and we’re not going to fix it in the same manner either. It’s my desire to go Washington to fight and work hard with a get it done attitude. The federal government needs to be put back in its place with the responsibilities our nation’s founders intended. Keeping us safe, securing our borders and protecting our sovereignty – that’s the role of the federal government. After that, Congress and all of Washington need to get out of the way and let us – Kansans and citizens across the country – make the decision we know are right.”
