Augusta Mayor Kristey Williams endorses Pompeo in the 4th District race

March 8th, 2010

AUGUSTA, KS – The Honorable Kristey Williams, Mayor of Augusta, is the latest mayor in the 4th District to endorse military veteran and businessman Mike Pompeo in his run for Congress.

“Mike and I share the same commitment to bring compassion, dedication and honest hard work back to government,” commented Williams. “Mike knows the challenges communities in the 4th District face trying to balance the budget while dealing with the added taxation and regulation of the federal government. It's time to put someone like Mike in Congress who will be able to reduce Washington's burden on small business growth and help small communities like Augusta sustain and grow our businesses now and into the future." continued Williams.

Williams is a retired teacher who was elected Mayor of Augusta in May of 2007.

“The residents of Augusta know all too well about federal red tape and regulation,” commented Pompeo. “Be it flood plane designation or tax burdens on businesses that discourage growth, the federal government continues to stunt the prosperity of communities across the 4th District. I am proud to have the support of local leaders like Kristey in the struggle against increasing federal regulation and interference,” concluded Pompeo.

Other local leaders who have endorsed Pompeo’s run for the 4th District Congressional seat include:

  • State Senator Carolyn McGinn (31st District)
  • State Senator Susan Wagle (30th District)
  • Representative Aaron Jack (99th District)
  • Representative Brenda Landwehr (91st District)
  • Representative Phil Hermanson (96th District)
  • Representative David Crum (77th District)
