Pompeo leading fundraising efforts in 4th District race

WICHITA, KS – Businessman and Army veteran Mike Pompeo continues to lead Republican primary candidates in the Kansas 4th District Congressional race in both overall fundraising and cash on hand. The campaign finance reports available from the Federal Election Commission on Monday showed Pompeo raised more than four times the amount of money as the next closest candidate.

Pompeo’s fundraising from individuals within the 4th District outpaced the combined 4th District contribution total of all other candidates in the race, both Republican and Democrat.   Similarly, Pompeo had the support of nearly 500 contributors in the 4th District, more than any other candidate from either party.

“The outpouring of support from the 4th District has been both amazing and humbling,” said Pompeo.  “The people who will be most affected by the results of this race are the voters of the 4th District.
It’s clear that people across the district are convinced that our political elites have lost their way. The people of the district are excited about the opportunity to bring real change to Washington.”

Pompeo for Congress reports raising more than $429,000 in 2009. Comparatively, three of the four other Republican candidates in the race combined have raised approximately $150,000. Not included in that figure is Jim Anderson, whose campaign finance report is not available at this time.
