Illegal Immigration - We Must Secure Our Borders
The Obama Administration is failing at keeping our borders safe. Instead the President has taken overreaching and potentially unconstitutional action to given amnesty to illegal immigrants.
I believe the federal government has two primary roles: (1) to protect our national security and the safety of all Americans; and (2) to get the heck out of way and let the citizens of this great nation prosper with individual and economic freedoms.
There’s no doubt in my mind that we need to increase the security along the U.S. border with Mexico. We also need to increase the security on all fronts, including airports and seaports. We must never forget that there are people in this world who still want to kill Americans and wreak havoc within our great country. This is why one of the very first bills I introduced as a new Congressman was to require the construction of a double-layer fence along the U.S.-Mexico border and a virtual fence along the U.S.-Canada border.
When it comes to illegal immigration, the definition is in the phrase. We have a process in place to allow those who wish to enter America legally. Using that process, millions of legal immigrants have done the right thing and become a legal U.S. citizen. Lawbreakers should never be rewarded for breaking the law, and I have, and will continue, to oppose any form of amnesty.
Those who are in our country illegally are pushing the system to a breaking point. The federal government’s plan of securing our borders and reigning in on illegal immigration is not working.
I have firsthand experience at securing borders. In the Army, I was charged with patrolling the East German border. I know what it’s like to be on the front line of securing a country. It’s time Congress executes in constitutional duty to stop illegal immigration by successfully protecting our national sovereignty and every point of entry and securing our borders immediately.
